30+ visits! That´s about 3 or 4 visits a year since they opened around 2005 if I´m not mistaken.

Thanks for the jeans clarification!

I actually said
in close to 30 trips

FYI - the first Desire property (Desire Riviera Maya) opened in 2003 - so as of this year, 10 years for that location :D

I guess it depends on what time of year you are going but I think I would find jeans far too hot and confining in the tropical heat. Sure, girls might look stunning, sexy, hot, etc in jeans but, in the tropics???? No thanks. I prefer to wear my barely there dress up outfits that I can't wear to a family dinner. If you think the dress is too revealing, it will be perfect at Desire. :D

To help you out, here's a question for you.

If you and your wife where going out to a very upscale restaurant with her dressed up in a very provocative and sexy outfit and the two of you where in the company of several other couples also nicely dressed up for a special evening - would you wear jeans to the occasion ??

As surprising as it may be, the answer is yes for men. Jeans look great if they are properly fitted - not baggy, not full of holes or faded. When paired with a collared shirt and loafers guys look great. We think there is nothing less sexy than a guy in tan khakis and a polo shirt. If jeans are not your thing, then wear a pair of flat front chinos/slacks.

We've dined in some spectacular restaurants from NYC to SF and dressing up is jeans, collared shirt, and a sport coat.

For the ladies, sexy dresses, short skirts, lingerie, or theme night costumes are always hot. We've seen ladies in tight booty shorts who pull off that look great. Just add heels and the ladies look dead sexy.

I know pictures are "outlawed", but it would be EXTREMELY helpful for some of us newbies if some of the more knowledgeable members (that are comfortable doing so) post their own shots (maybe from their rooms) of a little of what to expect in terms of attire, for BOTH the ladies and the gents. Even blurred/cropped/anonymous photos would be helpful.

I know we are a little confused/concerned on what to wear for breakfast, lunch, dinner, theme nights, etc. While we are aware that there is theoretically never a wrong thing to wear, and everyone is supposedly very nonjudgmental. Its still tough as newbies, who haven't experienced this yet, want to fit in, and don't want to be "those people".

I think it would also help some of the newbies who have body concern issues. Seeing all different body shapes that I expect to see on our visit will likely put a lot of those concerns to rest?

I have yet to write my trip report, but I can guide you on this question seeing as we were newbies. Breakfast and dinner are indoors whereas the lunch is outside near the pool. All sorts of body shapes and sizes. Don't be overly concerned and go with the flow.

During breakfast most people were wearing casual summer clothes, shorts, tees, bikini tops, but not risqué. Too early for that I guess.

During lunch people would be coming from the pool or beach areas and would put on their shorts/trunks, bikini tops or cover-ups. My SO put on a see through mesh style cover up but she was topless underneath. Some men would put on a tee shirt, some would not. (I put on a tee just because I didn't want food spilling on my body). I sometimes saw topless women but that was more the exception than the rule. I dont think I saw anyone naked eating at the lunch buffet.

During dinner, I wore a variety of chinos and dress jeans to the sit-down restos with a nice short sleeved shirt or pullover. I had nice & proper closed-toed shoes (the white summer casual kind). While I cannot say I was dressed to the nines, I would say I looked stylish (sort of summer Banana Republic or James Bond's clothing in Casino Royale when he was in the the Bahamas). On the one occasion I ate at the buffet I was in bermudas and a nice t-shirt and nice sandals, but I felt underdressed even though no one batted an eye. Given how hot and humid it was I am glad I did not bring a long sleeved shirt or dinner jacket, though I think something in linen would have been comfortable. Men were dressed much more casually than women, khakis with polos being the popular option.

At dinner my SO wore mostly beautiful summer dresses and she did not look out of place. There were more risqué pieces being worn by a healthy minority (20-25%) of ladies such as see through body-mesh and the like, but not one single woman was dressed casually. In general, women were stylish in heels in nice evening wear sometimes leaning to the overtly sexy.

Theme nights. We were at RM and Pearl and attended as many nights as we physically could, which ended up being four of six (one at Pearl).

1) School girl and nerd night: There was a low participation rate. Most women wore something very sexy but not necessarily school girl. Only a few men dressed up as nerds. My SO wore something clubby with jean shorts & I was summer stylish. We didn't feel out of place.
2) Foam party: fun. just go naked, or bring your bikinis/swim trunks, take them off and go naked. I suggest goggles but that's because I got a lot in my eyes ( I was in the minority I think).
3) Lingerie night (men in sexy white). Almost all the women were in some type of sexy lingerie, some more daring than others. My SO, who is a little self conscious, put on something that was very daring and got a lot of compliments. I would say that it is a must that the women dress accordingly for this night. I was wearing nice white-wear though most men only had a piece of white.
4) XS (xtra small) night @ Pearl: Women wore mostly lingerie or next to nothing. Very few men participating. I just wore something clubby/summer stylish. I did not feel out of place.

So, no pictures, but I hope this helps.

Thank You, Jeagree...That is an awesome guide (far and away the best I personally have read)!
Anyone that has further advice particularly on Leather and Lace, Tight and Bright, and James Bond nights, please post!

For leather and lace, a lot of people dress for these them, well mostly women. Most women wear a black leather corset, or black lace lingerie. I've seen men in leather assless chaps and pleather tiny shorts!

For bright and tight, it's a lot of fluorescent colors and leggings! Both men and women!

And then for the James Bond night, most people dress in sexy, elegant dresses! Women in long sequence dresses with really high slits, or just super sexy tiny dresses! Men tend to dress in dress shoes, dress pants and a polo shirt, or some even went for the suit and tie look!

Hope this help!
