Azul is a few hundred yards north and the new one to the south about 8-10 minutes.
You can walk to Puerto Morelos in about one and a half to two hours, and to Cancun in, I suppose, about a day if you really wanted to. But you have to wear clothes once you are a couple of hundred yards outside the Desire beach area.
The beach is pretty much the same in each direction with a backing of buildings in various stages of being built, being used or falling down.
