Hidden Beach Resort vs Pearl

Postby Engman » Sun Oct 19, 2025 3:12 pm

We are going to be staying at Hidden Beach Resort (HBR) for 3 nights before a further 6 nights at Pearl. We are longtime Desire visitors and know both DRM and Pearl pretty well, but this will be our first visit to HBR. I understand that it is C/O, not swinger-friendly, which is fine for us; nevertheless, we're trying to gauge our expectations before we get there. Has anyone been there?

Been often
Pros
Decent quality, very clean and tidy, great staff, very friendly, fantastic for nudity- you never need to wear anything anywhere, and although officially C/O you will likely see virtually 100% nude except at dinner - and even then many will be nude. It’s a nudists paradise and you can go the whole vacation without clothes and many do, wide choice of restaurants if you walk outside the nude section ( clothing requd. of course).
Cons
Getting a bit tired in places, a little quiet in the evenings, food can be mixed in quality.

But overall a great place especially if you enjoy being naked 24/7. It’s amazingly relaxed. It was our first nude vacation, but the nude experience feels so normal there that my wife went from nude anxiety to loving it in just a couple of hours. Certainly more upmarket than any other true naturist resort and broadly comparable in quality with Pearl. No sexy vibe, and a quieter, older crowd. But it has its attractions.

Thanks, Travmex.

Sounds perfect, as we're meeting great Desire friends straight afterward, so we'll party a lot with them. We're looking for a quiet few days hanging out naked together, enjoying each other and the great weather (we live in the PNW). What is the tolerance for some light PDA between us there, for example, in the jacuzzi? Also, one of the things my wife and I love at Desire is dressing up for the evening dinners in outfits she couldn't wear outside the resort. Do any of the guests dress up in the evening?

They used to have a lingerie night, and occasionally some other theme nights, not sure if they still do.
But it is a very nude resort and see thru wraps, completely nude, or topless, at dinner or the nightclub is not uncommon and would not bother anyone. My wife and I were in the bar at the nightclub one night when it was actually very busy. Most people had been out to eat in the restaurants in the vanilla part of the resort and were normally dressed. After a while someone said, to heck with this, let’s all get naked. And immediately everyone just dropped their clothes where they stood, and the whole bar was 100% naked for the rest of the night. But I can’t really call it sexy ‘dressing up’ as you might see at Desire.
As far as PDA goes, they state a no tolerance policy, but they don’t go out their way to catch people. Realistically, security is very light in such a small resort, and main issue would be other guests might possibly complain, although probably not that likely. Nudists are generally pretty liberal. So it’s like any other vanilla resort in that regard, be discreet and sensible, and nobody notices.

Does Hidden Beach have the same friendly, active conversations among guests like Desire does? Or is it more like a typical resort where guests keep to themselves and don’t talk to each other?

Very friendly. I think that’s a nude resort thing in general.

Certainly, that's been our experience. We visited a number of nude resorts in both CA and WA in the early days, before and as we had just discovered Desire. Although the people were very friendly, the places we visited were usually more rundown in nature. One place in the Bay Area even had one permanent resident living in a Yurt who had befriended a family of skunks who visited her daily for food. Clearly Desire is more high-end than your average nude place, plus of course it is lifestyle friendly, which creates that wonderful sexual vibe even if you are not in the lifestyle. It will be interesting to visit HBR and then move on immediately to Pearl. We'll be able to compare the two resorts side by side.

Both resorts are pretty unique in that they allow naturism in an adults only, upscale, full service environment. It’s hard to find that anywhere else. Even the better nudist resorts across North America or Europe are essentially just nice campsites. A few of the better upscale hotels have small, separate, nude designated areas. But neither of these options are appealing to us for a vacation.

I totally agree, we wouldn't be going to HBR if we weren't going straight onto Pearl. Although we don't consider ourselves in the lifestyle, the 'sex-is-in-the-air' vibe at Desire is just unbeatable for us.

We stayed at Hidden Beach after a stay at Desire Pearl - it's a good way to transition between Desire and normality. HB is very compact, very sociable with everybody naked all the time. But also quite staid, with no PDAs or play of any kind - partly because many of the guests were naturist in the 65+ age group who had been visiting HB every year for many years. There's a great sea view, but no actual beach. There were several entertainment nights, including a live band and naked disco with body painting. Most guests dressed up in the evening, although some stayed resolutely naked even for a gala dinner. We were delighted to find that the manager was an English guy who grew up near where we lived in London! Overall you will have a relaxing time at HB, but the fun is very different to Desire.
