A multi-prong outlet or power strip. We've brought one with us on every visit since the first. There are very few available electrical outlets in the rooms, and most people bring a wide variety of electronic devices when traveling, even to Desire (cell phones, Kindles, laptops, iPads, iPods, etc.).

Seriously, another thing is don't over pack, seems like after many trips we've taken less and less each time. Outfits that don't fit in quart size ziplock bag for the women are too big....leave room for the girls shoes!!!

Go Canes!!

Guess we will have lots to talk abt then. We are there at same time.

If you plan on being on the beach in the early morning bug spray may come in handy. Once the sun is higher bugs on the beach don't seem to be a problem.

The fact that my husband had NO bites and I had MORE than my fair share may mean some of us are more attractive to the biting critters than others. Personally, after a dozen trips during all seasons we would not leave home without packng Deep Woods Bug Repellant.

Reading glasses and a small flashlight, or something to see the small print on the menus in the darker restaurants

While it isn't Gatorade, my wife and I take a supplement that has the advanatge of not only flushing out the system to prepare for another day of abusing our bodies, but it also adds arginine to the system. Arginine as an amino acid is part of the research that lead to Viagra. So I have no problems maintaining the appropriate level of... attention... whenever the wife needs it.

We also pack a number of packets of Emergen-C powder. Also is very good morning after drink as it has lots of electrolytes but isnt full of sugar to upset the stomach any further.

About two weeks before you two leave get a perscription of Dukoral from your doctor. It works great for travellers diarrhea and upset stomache. :D/

Thinking about the little things...

Postby Screamincheetah » Fri Feb 22, 2013 6:08 pm

For some reason the idea of breath management popped into my head. Does the resort have bowls of mints everywhere, do you bring your own, or is everyone feeling so good that their breath is the last thing they worry about? I have no idea why this popped into my head, other than I've been snowed in for two days so spending a lot of time dreaming of Desire.

In our other trips, we've been glad to have SPF 30 lip balm. A couple of cheap little umbrellas are nice too - makes walking in the rain quite pleasant. :)

I suggest packing your clothes in plastic bags. Last year we arrived during a huge storm. The Cancun airport luggage carriers are not covered & everyone's luggage was soaked! We spent the first few hours of our trip dealing with our clothes. Our room had clothes hanging off doors, light fixtures, chairs, etc... for 2 days to dry everything out. I won't even get into what my wife thought about her 500 pairs of shoes being soaked! After 5 trips, lesson learned on our last one. We will be buying those space bags we see advertised on tv this year to ensure no matter what, our clothes & shoes are dry.

Bug repellent... better safe than sorry but in all our years, we never had an issue with bugs & we go there in June.

A bottle of the extra high SPF for those more sensitive areas.

Bring a hat!

Insulated mugs to keep your frosty beverages nice & cold.

A few extra clothes hangars since the rooms don't have nearly enough for both of you to hang everything that needs to be hung in the closet.

Extra batteries

Aloe & medications (even if you don't think you will need them). You will pay an insane price at the Desire store if you need something.

Red Bull (if you drink it). Last year they were charging people $4 US at the bar & $5 US in the store for a single can of it.

Extension cord for any plug in type toys since power outlets in the rooms are very limited. Also a multi-outlet power strip so you have enough outlets to charge everything you need. Before we brought a power strip we would want to charge a cell phone but have no outlet, so we would have to unplug a light or the TV to charge things. Kind of a pain but a simple power strip solves that problem.
