Construction update for RM?

Hi there! We are looking to plan our 2nd trip for Feb 2023 and are a little concerned about the upcoming construction plans for the expansion project. Is most of the construction disruption going to be on the North End by the Old Cici’s bar or will it be more widespread? Depending on outcome we may try Pearl but would rather head back to RM….so Fun!!!

I think I've seen somewhere (someone can confirm) that construction won't start until end of April/May so if you're there in Feb it won't be an issue anyways (we're headed there in March so had the same concerns).

Thanks. The blast email received on June 14th states “from January 15th through December 2023” as the construction dates. Cokeman you have anything to share?

Straight answer? It's Mexico, good luck on getting anything concrete.....pics of it starting is what I'm waiting for but it won't change anything regarding our booking.

Ah whatever…we booked for February again. Too much fun and need the getaway. Looking at a map and all the expansion talk it’s got to be on the Northside of the resort as that’s the only primitive area available to build upon. Cheers to DRM around 2!!

New lobby, new disco, new lobby bar, new spa/gym are all part of the construction plans.

Existing areas will be affected.

Curious what they do with the existing areas - are they constructing new in their place or moving these to the "new" area and constructing rooms in the existing space.

Most of the new construction is happening on the large empty lot just north of the currect buildings. Construction will take place during the day, so if you are at the pool, you won't notice much. Going down in two weeks. Let you know if we find out anything else.

We were there 12/14-12/19, in the 2400 building, there was work on the lot, but honestly it pretty much seemed like they were simply shifting sand around the entire time. There was some mild construction noise, but you couldn't really hear it unless you left the room. It was really nothing.

We left RM on December 24 and agree with what Eric just posted. We walked near the construction area a few times and never heard much. They have the area closed off for viewing from the resort and the beach area. They have a couple cranes on site, peeked through a small opening in the barricade material and could see some ground area leveled off but that was it.

We returned last week after spending 5 weeks there. We never heard anything once whilst in our room. But probably 3 or 4 days we could hear some mild noise whilst on the beach near volleyball court. Currently they are working on the foundations and they are piling and I think on the days when they were hitting hard rock you could hear a little. Not enough to disturb you. We sailed past a couple of times on the Hobie Cat, there’s some cranes you can see but that’s about it

We were there in early Dec, and had a room directly next to the lot.
We didn't see or hear much activity. A couple of guys wandering aimlessly and a bulldozer or two in the same position through the 4 days were there. I dont think anyone will be disturbed by it, and I doubt we'll see the new pool any time soon. We've been hearing so much about the expansion being "imminent", but watching the process, I'd be shocked if it ends before 2025.

We were just there last week. They installed a metal construction wall at the north end of the original section of the resort. There was some substantial pile driving noise, so we asked to be moved to another garden view room further from the site. The work happens during daylight hours Monday through Saturday.
