It’s been a few years since we’ve been to Pearl. Has anything changed? What are some must dos when there. Thinking about a spa service. Worth it? Thanks.

The restaurants haven't changed much this past year. Some have said there is a new head chef over seeing everything. The members dinner has improved in our opinion but we only do that every couple of years. As for the mansion playroom from what I understand it is not open to everyone. Only mansion members or as a guest of a mansion member.

We just got back from a week at Pearl. There is a new executive chef. Aphrodite is okay, hard to screw up breakfast. Buffet lunch was pretty good. Pizzas are still amazing. Room service was decent. Suki and Pearl were both delicious on several visits. After jacuzzi tacos were some of the best food we ate there; highly recommend!

We visit the spa for massages on every trip. This time for a relaxing 80 min. Although pricey, we have enjoyed every single service we’ve gotten there. The staff is awesome, respectful and talented.

Mansion playroom is only for couples staying in the mansion and their invited guests. Have a great trip!

Outside the lobby bar sliding door, in front of Pearl. Taco stand, delicious!

we were at Pearl over Christmas, service was excellent. To our surprise the pizza was very good. I am from New York and Nina is from boston so we take pizza seriously.

OK...let's not get too carried away. ALL pizza is pretty good when you've been drinking

And for reference...we're from New Haven CT (the self titled "pizza capital of the world")

Yes...this is being said in full jest...sorta 8)

I find these pizza posts amusing. We got pizza at Pearl a few years ago and thought it was the worst pizza we'd ever had. That included frozen store brand pizzas and school cafeteria lunch pizzas. This was late at night (maybe 1am?) and we were hungry. We had had great late night meals at RM (with their really nice pizza oven) so we were looking forward to something simple, but filling while at Pearl. There was nothing "open" late at night, but we were told by a worker to wait outside the (locked) Pearl restaurant and he fetched the chef. The chef came out and asked what we wanted. We ordered veggie pizzas.

The chef went back inside and we waited outside the restaurant. No TV, no music, no other guests... we just loitered by the restaurant entrance the whole time. About 20 minutes later, someone came out with our pizzas. Everything about them was disappointing: the crust was bland and thin, like cardboard. The cheese was barely there and the sauce tasted like it came from a can of unseasoned tomato sauce. And worst of all, the veggies were barely cooked.

We nibbled at the parts with cheese and tossed the rest.

Glad to hear that the pizza seems to have improved!

There are two types of pizza 1) the late night lobby/room service variety and 2) the brick oven pizza outside Aphrodite. I assume the favorable posts are about the latter.

Yes, we were speaking about the good pizza right out of the pizza oven outside of the buffet restaurant; not the frozen pizzas at late night. But as we used to say:
Pizza is like sex, even when it is bad; its still pretty good.

Nina and Frank, what’s your opinion on the Mansion? Also, do you know if the Mastwr Suites are dated looking? My wife would hate a dated property - she realized she likes to be pampered - but the mansion is 2x the master suite right now. Also, wonder if the mansion offers free massage like the desire experience. Their website is. It very good, vague actually. Thoughts on this are much appreciated!

Only you can answer the question about the mansion. I had them give us a tour of the mansion when we bought in last year. To my wife and I they make no sense. The upside is they are very fresh looking on the inside, not dated at all. We bought in at the master suite level. To us the MS's feel dated. But they are bigger and have two bathrooms. The mansion rooms are a bathroom and area the bed is in. The whole point of Pearl is being with other people...hot tub, pool, night club/bar area, etc. I would pay slightly more for the play room but not much. The play room in the dance club is clearly an afterthought and about the worst place it could be located.

@IrishMark, Pearl rooms have a dated feel. They’re clean and amazingly well maintained. We’ve stayed at Pearl lots of times and the enjoyment of the trip has never been dictated by the room. The less we’re in the room, the better the trip. We’ve stayed in the Mansion twice. The playroom is cool, but hardly worth the difference in price. The other issue, Mansion rooms are super hard to book. Lots of guests do 1-2-3 days of their stay and have to move in or out depending on their reservation. No thanks, we’re not moving mid-vacation. Grab an ocean view room and go enjoy your stay. Desire Resorts is not selling 5 star accommodations or food; they’re selling an erotic adult playground. Go play, don’t sweat the room!
