We typically walk to Puerto Morelos for lunch/dinner at least once per trip. We usually eat at Punta Corcho because the food and drinks are so delicious. We are looking for some recommendations near the square that are equally as good restaurants. What are your favorites?

If you want a dive bar type scene, Tocos.com is right off the square with great food and really good margaritas they serve in a glass measuring cup.

There's only one answer: Punta Corcho. It's truly remarkable - not remarkable for its location, remarkable period. One of our favorite restaurants anywhere in the world.

We always either walk down the beach to Puerto Morales for lunch or take a taxi for dinner ($15 plus tip each way in March). Punta Corcho is excellent but not always open for lunch. Our experience with Los Pelicanos is fine and while it’s not Punta Corcho, the ocean view is better. John Gray’s is on the list for our next trip to Pearl in the fall as we have heard excellent things and the patio looks amazing. Our favorite restaurant is Boquinete which is a half block or so south of Punta Corcho - the whole fresh fish is amazing - probably best with a party of 4 or more - but on the level of the best 5 star seafood restaurants I’ve been to. They are all good choices.

The port side of Puerto Morelos is only a little over a mile long so you can walk just about anywhere in under 30 minutes. The Fives to Punta Corcho would be about 20 minutes. You could do most of the walk on the beach just go into town when you get to the pier and its only a block from there.

We popped into Punta Corcho for dinner. Great food drinks atmosphere etc. Hard to find, look for a door and steep stairs. Would go again.

Did you make it? We have the same route in a month, 1 night at The Fives and 6 at Pearl. What did you use for Fives -> Pearl transfer - taxi, Uber etc.?

Fives was great. Breakfast included and they have a great restaurant with deck overlooking the water. We arrived night before DP and ate at Boquinete in PM. Great food with romantic beach location. Cabs are cheap $5-10 to and from restaurant and next day to DP. The Fives will arrange. Cabs are close by. After many trips to Desire and staying at Courtyard Marriot day before or Temptation day before we will from now on be doing the Fives before

Now on the back end we find the Fairfield best to do the night before departure. Clean. Quiet and convenient for morning departure. USA Transfer for airport to Fives and DP to Fairfield. Cabs otherwise. Enjoy!!

Thanks. Could we have a dinner at Fives (we are b&b not AI), we'll arrive late ~7 PM and not sure we will go to the town.

We have developed a routine of staying the first night (or two) in Puerto Morelos. It is a wonderful way to relax and adjust into vacation mode before we go to Pearl. We love going into town to enjoy the restaurants and buying wine for the week from Chedraui. Some of our restaurants so far…
Blue Morelos for lunch. Absolute hole-in-the-wall that offers amazingly good food for cheap. All the food is cooked fresh in a kitchen the size of a large closet. This is NOT your typical American lunch spot, and we love it. If you want pristine presentation and fine dining go elsewhere. If you love good food and aren’t afraid of wobbly tables and a little dirt on the floor, make sure to wear your fat pants.
King Taco. It’s a block or two past the Chedraui. Similar to Blue Morelos in style. Open air, wobbly tables, awesome food cooked fresh. Cheap prices. Make sure to ask about the serving size. I ordered empenadas expecting a small little turnover thing. Instead, I got a plate full of two of the biggest empenadas you could imagine. Again, wear your fat pants.
El Nicho for breakfast. Comparable to any quality American brunch spot. There’s not much else to say except it was really good.
The Port Hut / La Choza de Puerto for dinner. Very good food and surprisingly good drinks; reasonable prices for a dinner spot. It’s open air seating inside and out. If you forget your bug spray, the servers will bring you a can of Off bug spray. The stray dogs all have names and are very friendly. The stray cats will probably keep your seat warm for you if you get up to use the bathroom.
Maíz - Maix. This is right next to The Port Hut. It was a brand new restaurant on our last visit. It was very good, and I think they will do very well in the area. Try the flautas.
