first our camera got jacked up somewhere in route. which was a bummer but not desires fault in anyway the trip was awesome but desire has good points and bad. ok first the good its only 15 min from the airport. the service is above EXCELLENT. they dont allow any single guys, the disco is awesome with nice couches everywhere. they have two poles, lol they do have a red room but didnt get to use it. bummed there. the hot tub is huge. like 5 times hedos. the beach is good but does have alot of gawkers. the beds out by the ocean are awesome but cost 20 a day for a guar. spot that sucked and was bs. hello all inclusive. the hot tub has several play beds around it with a swim up bar attached. there is only one pool which i liked. the sucky part about the trip is no porn. you gotta be freaking kidding me on that one. im a dude can never have to much porn. they overbooked and several couples ended up at other resorts. i would have been beyond pissed if that was me. the food was at ok but not as good as hedos. it averages about a 1000 bucks more than hedo. no one really gets into theme nights. we both loved theme night at hedos. no swim up bar for the pool. that sucked. but it does cut down on peeing on the pool so its a trade off lol. on general the people where a little bit older which we didnt mind. this is prob due to cost. the entertainment staff was ok but deff. not as good as hedos i think they had restrictions on how raunchy they could get. if we go again its because we meet several really cool couples. they both have very good point and minor things i would like to see changed i guess it really comes down to cost and airport connections for us, if we caught a good deal and got the right flight its a go .

Is it true that they overbooked and other couples had to go to other resorts? I'm a mellow dude, but I think I would completely lose it like Bill Bixby turning into Lou Ferrigno!!!!!! The wife and I love DESIRE, not some other resort and booked well in advance to be at DESIRE. Did they give discounts/refunds? I honestly don't know if I could contain myself. Could the displaced couples go to Desire during the day? Did the displaced couples go nuts? Has anyone else experienced this?

Joetcool: the SDC Players group was scheduled in for that time period. Do you mean that the SDC Players group overbooked ???

honestly dont know whether the players club or hotel overbooked. we went through a travel agent. i was just saying im very glad it didnt happen to me. if i wanted a vanilla resort i would have booked one and im sure the guest that got put in other resorts felt the same way. we all enjoy an altenative vacation and thats not what we have in mind. but if i had to guess i would say the hotel gave out to many slots to different travel agents. while the players club members did dominate the hotel we meet many couples who where not associated with them.

That's a little scary. I do know that the weekend we booked only has a few expensive rooms left, so hopefully, it is not overbooked.

The wife and I sometimes book "vanilla" vacations with the kids. We really, really would hate it if we got moved from Desire to some vanilla resort for our spicy, romantic vacation time. I'd probably walk around the vanilla resort naked in protest until I got thrown out. Well, actually no, but it would be extremely upsetting to be moved.

We went through a travel agent when we booked our next Desire trip for Labor Day weekend and we do have a confirmation number, etc., Don't know if that would prevent being moved if the place is overbooked, but we won't worry about it. It doesn't do any good to worry about such things, I suppose, but thanks. It's good to hear about the possibility such an issue could arise.

I wonder if anyone else who has experienced being moved will read this and chime in about the experience?

Just going to the mutual resorts websites here are the prices for equivalent rooms at each resort for the week that you where there

Hedo II $2,922 GVN - 7 nights for 2 - Gardenview Au Naturel
Desire $2,408 GVN - 7 nights for 2- Gardenview Clothing Optional

Whoneedssunscreencpl - Without having a first person report/details of what, or if anything actually happened, I wouldn't really be concerned

With the Swine Flu / Mexican violence scares this has really done a number on all resorts booking numbers, including Desires.

The only occurrence of any "bumping" that I remember hearing about was back more than 5 years ago shortly after the resort opened - this had occurred during a group takeover week and I have not heard of any proven occurrences since that time

If anything Desire is struggling right now just to get it's weekly numbers close to 70+ % occupancy.

i would like to know where your getting your rates cokeman. i just checked the hedo and desire site. for the dates of 8-11 to 8-16 hedo was 1321 per person versus 1720 per person at desire and both where garden view. that comes to 800 bucks and thats not counting air which for some reason seems to run higher for cancun. if you got a good site hook a brother up. as far as the overbooking i was present when tom<head> discussed it with his members. didnt ask any questions because i wasnt with the group, but it did happen. that particular week can assure you that the resort was packed.the rest of cancun was dead according to the bartenders we talked to. but i will ease some minds. i think you will be ok unless a group is going. if you are going with a group go a day early like we did or get there early. im pretty sure we would have got bumped if we didnt do this.

I can believe that the resort was busy for the 4th - LOL - probably one of their busiest weeks of every year.

The rates are I showed above are directly from the resorts official websites for equivalent rooms for the same time period. Since Desire does not have "prude side rooms" at lower rates then the equivalent room is the Hedo Gardenview on the Au Naturel side.

What? No porn? That was one of wife's best motivators in Los Cabos. Los Cabos had at least two channels of fairly decent porn that ran 24/7. The combination of guests, disco, jacuzzi and porn in the room made for a very active trip.

Does Cancun expect us to bring our own dvd player? Maybe we will just have to find some accomodating couples to volunteer to put on their own porn for us (just kidding).

The Player's club has hosted their annual group event every year Desire has been open the week of the fourth of July week. This was to be a takeover but after the swine flu and drug violence scare thanks to the US media we had to give up about 20 rooms after cancellations. That is where things fell apart... We were told initialy that we could continue to hold onto the rooms to book them without a charge but then the resort rebooked some swine flue displacements into our week. Our agent continued to book our rooms and we ended up with 6 overbooked rooms. The hotel blames our agent, our agent blames the hotel... who the f**k knows but I now have to work overtime on repairing some bad customer sevice and rebuilding confidence.

Our displaced guests where booked into Azul next door and given full access to both resorts but it still was a cluster f**k...

Just bang on the wall of your room and ask the neighbors to come over and put on a live porn demonstration for you. You can return the favor at a later date. It helps to build camaraderie. Who knows, this could ultimately evolve into a roving porn troupe of guests each week that volunteer to perform throughout Desire much like Christmas carolers!
