With all the violence around Mexico right now, I was wondering if anyone has traveled to much outside of the Resort? We would like to go see Claudia and rent a car to go into Cancun, but wonder if it's safe to travel or not.

When going to visit Claudia, simply have the front desk call you a taxi and have someone (ie - Argos the bellman) from the front desk explain to the driver (assuming you are not fluent in the local language :? )where you want to go. All the taxis know Claudias exact location and will drop you right on her doorstep, where she is usually waiting to meet you. Ditto for the return trip, but Claudia will call the cab. It couldnt be simpler...or quicker. 5 Minutes is all it takes to get to Puerto Morales.

When we were there last May, we thought we would stay in Puerto Morales and walk around a bit, which Claudia strongly encouraged, but after the incredible massage we were so sexually charged that we chose to skip the sightseeing and get back to "our room" ASAP !!!

Claudia is the only reason we will ever leave the resort, so cant really comment on the car rental thing. I know it holds no appeal to us to venture too far from those amazing beach beds !! I dont see this May being any different !

CandyLou - Honestly other than the big clubs(The City, Coco Bongo, Senor Frogs, etc) at night there is not much else to see and do in the Hotel Zone or in Cancun City proper (well there is a WalMart and a Sears. LOL)

BTW - Spring Break is quickly approaching and the Cancun Hotel Zone and clubs can be quite a zoo during this time period.

I suggest if you do want to go to Cancun rather than rent a car, just get a taxi right at Desire - the rate should be about $35 to anywhere in the Hotel Zone - Taxis are easy to get in the Hotel Zone and the same rate to get back to Desire

We are going to see Claudia when we get there. We can't wait

What is the standard cab fare PLUS tip from Desire to Claudia's? Is it paid in US dollars?

Omaha - The cab fare is equivalent to $8 USD each way - we usually just give the driver $10 USD which includes tip
