What are the rules of photos? Will hubby b able to take any photos of me or is it no cameras allowed period? Obviously no photos of others ect..but what r the rules? And in case the entertainment isn't what everyone says it is.. How much is a cab to cancun strip and is it safe? I speak Spanish and well traveled and not too concerned but tourists s"can get caught up in between the cartels...

I don't know of the "official" rule on cameras, but I would think their use would be frowned upon by your fellow travelers. That said, we took a few pictures of the pool area and the grounds early one morning when there was no one up and about. Can't speak to the cab to/from the main resort area as we prefer to stay at resort.

If you ask the hotel to get you a cab, you should be pretty safe. Getting back, ask the cabbie wait, or prearrange a time to meet. Or call the hotel to get a cab to where you are.
As far as camera, ask for permission to shoot around an area that is not being used, and you shouldn't have a problem. Many couples have done photo shoots around the Jacuzzi before it opens and therefore you aren't getting anyone else in the shots.
Early in the morning works also

We did the early AM pics when no one was around. We also did some in the water middle of the day, no one was in the water behind us. We took the pics from the beach out into the water, it was not a problem.

Be mindful with the photos and just use common sense and it will be fine. As far as taking a taxi into cancun or playa del carmen, I believe it's about 50 dollars each way, probably a little more on your return trip though. It's completely safe, honestly. But I mean with that being said, don't do anything that you wouldn't do in your own city or country. Upon leaving the strip, there are tons of taxis outside waiting, you won't have any issues trying to find one. Remember, the clubs don't get busy until after midnight and go until the early morning, around 430 I usually tap out. Palazzo, mandala, daddy o's and coco bongo are so much fun! But you might just have too much fun at desire and not even want to leave the resort!

We also took photos early in the morning when everyone was still asleep (we were usually up before 7 to get the beds on the beach reserved). We also have a few group pictures in the ocean of us and friends we met. Those are always easy to take because you don't have to worry about people behind you. I have plenty of pics taken at different times but never with anyone else in the background, just my beautiful wife. We actually put clothes on once to get a few pics just to satisfy the friends and family back home that we were actually at a resort (azul, cough cough)

.
You will be taking mental pics from the minute you wake, till you sleep though. Those are the images you will remember forever (hopefully).

We were at Desire Cabo - it was Temptations at the time and we arrived a day before the Desire Week was about to begin - and we brought our camera out (at the time Desire did have a 'no camera rule' but Temptations does not) and a guest came up to us (we called him Federal Agent Phil, dressed in his 'Tighty Whiteys') and told us to put our camera away as the wife was uncomfortable with it being out. We said to him that this was still Temptations, not Desire Week yet and we weren't interested in taking pics of them at all. Then his friend felt the need to come over and be his back-up, just in case an argument was going to happen.
We are the 'make love, not war' type of people, not looking for any sort of altercations or to make people feel uncomfortable in any way, shape or form. So we put our camera away.
I only post this because not everyone is comfortable with you bringing out your cameras and, if you do bring it out, just be prepared that you may find some folks who will ask you politely to put it away.
We have seen security ask beach walkers (from the vanilla resorts) to put away their cameras while walking the beach.
I would check on the Desire Website regarding the rules about taking photos around the resort - I think it's okay at the lobby bar around dinner time (before and after), when folks are all dressed up in their dinner attire.
