Unsolicited advice...random do's and don'ts

After eight visits to Desire, we're still coming back with new stories and new lessons learned. And why not? It's a different experience each time, unlike almost any other place in the world. With that said, though, we feel we can safely say there are some do's and don'ts we can share with others that might make their visit more enjoyable, or in some cases, make the visits of others around them more enjoyable.

* DO join a Yahoo group for the month you're going to Desire. They're great ways to meet others in advance, particularly if you tend to be shy and reserved as a couple. It always helps to recognize a friendly face when you arrive. (If you want to be anonymous online, though, even amongst a select few other guests, DON'T join a Yahoo group--all of them are likely have requirements to submit a face photo to be a member.)

* DO respond if another couple reaches out to you online before your trip. We're amazed at the number of people who don't ever bother writing back, or whose response consists of three words like "See you there." If you want to go to Desire and not talk to another soul while you're there, that's fine. That shouldn't preclude you from at least responding to a friendly email. It's not like we're trying to commit you via email to a no-holds-barred orgy when you arrive!

* DON'T smoke in the Jacuzzi. Seriously, it's against the rules, and seeing cigarette butts or ashes in the hot tub is a turn-off.

* DO use the playroom and Jacuzzi beds for what they were intended, and not as places to store your stuff or to have a loud conversation about politics with your friends.

* Guys--DO wear some decent clothes to the restaurants for dinner. We know it's a nude resort and that the buffet has a more relaxed dress code and vibe than the other two restaurants, but we've seen men wearing trucker hats, printed tee shirts (not the fashionable kind), and pro sports team jerseys to dinner. Come on, man! Their significant others are usually dressed very sexy, so why can't you at least make an effort? (While we're on the topic of clothes, DON'T wear UFC or Tapout apparel if you hope to come across as charming and bed-worthy. There are a few women who will swoon at the sight of MMA apparel, but it comes across as creepy most of the time. Same thing goes for Affliction.)

* DO be open and willing to strike up a conversation with others (without being obnoxious and overbearing). Some of the best experiences we've had at Desire came about spontaneously and unplanned, totally unexpected, with wonderful people with whom we just casually initiated contact and conversation.

* DO be respectful. Being in the Jacuzzi with a naked woman you don't know doesn't give you the right to squeeze her buns, or anything else.

* DON'T judge. Just because someone's at Desire doesn't make them a swinger. Or a partier. Or anything else. We've met a lot of different guest types over the course of eight visits.

* DO smile. A lot. You could be at work instead. :D

What time do they usually start the no-holds-barred orgy? :)

I never get invited to anything :(

Pardon our ignorance, but what are UFC, Tapout, MMA, and Affliction?

MMA is mixed martial arts, and UFC is the professional Ultimate Fighting Championship for MMA. Tapout is a brand of MMA-inspired apparel. Basically, the female half just can't understand why anyone would think it sexy. As for Affliction, it's also is a line of apparel closely linked to MMA: afflictionclothing.com/default.html. (By the way, nothing against MMA as a sport...it just doesn't fit the sensual vibe of Desire.)

Excellent advice! I especially appreciate the tip about using the playroom and jacuzzi beds for their intended use. Nothing can ruin a moment more than loud, non-sexual conversations in the playroom! That's what the bar is for!

My wife always tells me that I grin like Jack Nicholson. I hope that does count as a smile :)

(2 and a half weeks away and counting!)

We know what you mean about talking in the play area. We were at a hotel party once in the bedroom with several other people and two guys came in to smoke by the windows. They started to talk about guns and what a 50 cal. bullet would do to the body. That is just what we wanted to hear at that time. Needles to say the couples got up and left. Talk about chilling out the mood.
