We met up with Silvina at the Desire booth at the Taboo show here in Vancouver last week. She mentioned that the resort has purchased the property immediately to the left (when looking out to sea) and will be expanding there. That's really great news, but in my excitement of hearing this and seeing her again I forgot to ask her details on when and what exactly will go there. Anyone know or have heard anything more they can share?

The news of the purchase has been out for a while. But as recently as a couple weeks ago when we asked, they still weren't ready to announce just exactly what they were going to do with the property. If its just more rooms, that could mean they are going to try and broaden their appeal- possibly drop rates a bit, and try to pull in more of the younger crowd. But there has also been talk of perhaps a new heated pool with swim up bar, new disco, etc. Different ways they could go, so of course we'll be very interested to see what they settle on.

I am confused - immediately to the left of Desire (looking out to sea) is another small resort - separated by a fence from Desire.
Did they purchase that resort?

Mike,
As I remeber it, as part of the time share pitch, they were going to build condos on that property and give the time share owners first dives on purchasing a condo on the beach. Ummmmmmmm, I'm guessing round about 1/2 mill if that sounds right. The only one I know who could afford that number is BIG DADDY. Since he opened his first YNOT'S Burger Shops he's expanded to 37 locations throughout Calafornia and Nevada
It's on that property that some guy lives in a beach front shack. No electric, running water or toilets. But what the hell, it's on the beach. Coke has shot many pictures there.

2bat- this gives you another excuse to go back to Desire soon- to see for yourself just what is there ! But I believe Ron is right. Its actually quite a ways from Desire's fence down to Azul. In between is
just beach, trashy sand, and that old shack that got beat up pretty badly in the big hurricane.
Ron- you could be right. I've heard nothing more than rumours and opinions and what they "should" do. And of course if they would ask me I'd be happy to tell them exactly what they should do (in order to make me a happy customer)- but I'm not really counting on getting a call...........

If they don't built the condos, it'll be just another BS time share story. Time will tell. Lemmi see now. 100 condos X 500.000$ U.S. each (or there about) = 50 million + monthly condo fees + utilities= BIG DADDY money. EH? Speculation is fun.

On our first trip to Desire the property right to the left WAS a huge wooden raised beautiful home. A dream home that got DeMoLiShEd by the hurricane. the next lot about 1/2 0r 1/4 mile to the left (North) would be the Auzl resort.

FYI - The property in question
It is the lot where the large dream home on stilts was demolished that Desire has purchased

I emailed Silvina and she replied that info is sketchy at this time, but it will probably be more suites, another restaurant, and a bigger pool. Construction probably to start in the summer. No completion date given.

That sounds better than the condo's, eh Ron ? The pool is an obvious need, and of course more rooms means more income at a resort that is often booked months in advance. A little surprised by the restaurant though. That means another complete kitchen facility and kitchen staff since its so far away from the others. My thought was that they would put a new disco in the new area, and fill in the old pool and put another restaurant there. But- they didn't ask me- lol.........

Nick - good one - LMFAO !!!
The one good thing about all the nearby property that surrounds Desire RM is that because of soil conditions no one can ever build more that a two story building
But this might be your Worst Nightmare

Well we just got back from Desire - we went to the "return guest" meet and greet with the owner, very nice gent. He explained to us that they are going to expand the exsisting pool by knocking down some rooms - but don't fret, they will be adding rooms in the empty lot. Also, they will be adding at least another restaurant. He said that the capacity will stay about the same - just enhancing. I'm thinking he mentioned some sort of beachy area at the new lot so we naked people have more privacy from the clothed walkers. But I could have totally imagined that part with the help of the vodka they kept feeding me.
