We are big coffee fans in the AM and are wanting know how the coffee there is, are there pots in the room, or should we bring our own? Same question about the wine...only we try not to drink too much in the AM...lol...we like red wine, should we bring our favorites with us or can we buy it locally?

The coffee at the resort is generally OK - however the best coffee is right at the main bar in the lobby lounge area that is open 24/7 where they have a full barrista setup where you can get excellent cafe Americano, espresso, cappuccino anytime you want.

I can't comment on the house red wines or those optionally(extra cost) available for purchase on site, since I'm allergic to all red wines.

btw - there are no close by stores where can purchase wine but you could take a taxi into Cancun and the best wine available selections are at La Europa or the WalMart.

I second CokeMann's comments regarding the coffee at the lobby bar! I always grab a cup for myself and bring one to my best friend (best wife in the world) in bed as she is not a morning person. Also, no comment on the red wine as we are rum drinkers.....

My preference at the moment is the cafe cubano, but as long as it's strong and Cuban, I'm a happy girl. I'll leave the door open.

Oh YES!

One of my favourite drinks. The Chocolate Espresso Martini

1 oz cold espresso
1 1/2 oz vodka
1 1/2 oz Kahlua
1 oz white creme de cacao
2 tbsp finely chopped chocolate (preferably dark)

Also, a Baileys Espresso Martini, substitute Kahlua for Baileys.

Both are VERY good for body shots! :L

The lobby bar make decent coffee of all types.. the buffet breakfast coffee is not so great..

On the wine front there is an excellent wine 'cava' in the reception of Il Piacere. The list is varied but not huge and there are some first class wines. We tried a Cakebread Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and a Chardonnay from Ridge; both were excellent but they are pricey about $100 each if I recall.

House wines are OK, the white sauvignon blanc probably the pick of them imo.

In the past they have made us cappuccino with steamed Bailey's instead of milk. Great morning after drink
