Hi there

We will be at Desire in January 2013 and are wanting to confirm if the theme nights change from 2012 to 2013 or if they will be the same at the current ones on the website, namley:

Monday - THE HALL OF FAME NIGHT
Tuesday - HEAVEN & HELL
Wednesday - THE CANDLES NIGHT
Thursday - EMERGENCY 69
Friday - HEELS & DEALS
Saturday - SAFARI NIGHT
Sunday - RIDERS NIGHT

I can't seem to find any further information on this either on the forum or the website.
Any help much appreciated. Thanks.

The best person to ask would be Daniela at the resort. You can email her at guestservice@desireresorts.com. Please let us know if there will be any changes as we will be there late January.

Thanks for the details. I have emailed them and will post here once I have had a response.

My wife has done some shopping but wants to make sure we get the right stuff. Looking forward to some fun evenings whatever the theme!

I had a very prompt reply from Daniela at Desire RM, as follows: "We are working on them as soon as they are ready you would find them at the web site."

I am getting from her reply that they will be changing, but it was a bit vague. I have asked her to confirm exactly when the new themes will be finalised and posted on the website.
I think we will be holding back a bit on buying outfits until we know for sure. My gorgeous wife will be seriously peeved if she arrives as a sexy nurse and everyone is looking like a Persian Princess!

It would be really helpful if they they would post them sooner than later, as I am sure there are many people out there preparing for their Jan/Feb 2013 trips.

I just spoke with the activities manager Cesar, (activities@desireresorts.com) and he said that the changes will posted on the website within the week. There has been some recent management changes in that department that has been causing these delays. However, any further inquiries can be sent directly to him.

The resort needs to get on the ball! If they plan on changing the theme nights, they need to give notice a few months in advance. We have friends that are going the first week of January who already bought their costumes for 6 of the 7 theme nights. They are gonna be pissed if they are changed at the last second (less than a month in advance). When we go, we usually start planning our trip a few months out and start putting together our outfits. They need to give at least a couple months notice that they are changing themes or just let it be known that they will change them every 3-4 months so people can wait a bit longer to make purchases.

We have had the same issue with them not posting any special groups or activities ...I have asked for almost a month for the calendars thru march so we could book our trip....they have told me next week 3x, so wouldn't count on that. I know that this site has lots info on groups going but from the past trips we have ended up going on a week like ( jungle week??) and there were totally different theme nights. I went ahead and booked for February 20th after asking on the blog and talking to someone at the resort with no luck. Never have we had such an issue the last 4x we have been....definitely something they need to address because it is very frustrating

Desire lost some of their best activity personal. It is still great but not the same without Diana and Lazaro

The way their website is setup someone is always going to be "out in the cold" on the theme nights. They need to have a section to show when the theme nights will change. As it stands it only shows the current themes. We were there a week ago and there was a Latin Fever group and some of the themes were changed but we just went with the flow.

I agree that the current entertainment group isn't quite as good as Lazaro & Diana but I do think they will get there. Raluca, Vanessa, Alberto, Jesus, Cesar and the new girl Carla are all getting in the Desire groove, just give them time. BTW ran into Lazaro & Diana at Pearl, they are now working for SDC and taking a group down in December if anyone is interested.

I got an email reply from Cesar (Activities Manager) last week confirming that the theme changes for 2013 would be effective from January 15, 2013. The implication is that the current ones are valid until the day before. The details of the new themes are due to be posted shortly, I believe, but will wait and see.

The changes happen right in the middle of our time there, ironically, so we will need to prepare for new and old themes. Guess we'll be able to open a fancy-dress shop with all the outfits once we get back from vacation!

As it will be our first time there - can you guys who have been a few times share the level of participation from the guys vs girls with respect to costumes? I guess it will depend on who is there, but generally speaking ... ?

Looks like the effective date has changed to February 1st, not January 15th. (See "jls"'s post from Fri 30 Nov, entitled "THEME NIGHTS EFFECTIVE FEB 1 2013").

For anyone who hasnt read jls's post, the new themes will be:

MONDAY - School Girls & College Nerds

TUESDAY - GI Joes and Army Hoes

Have fun using your imagination and bringing life to a sexy white Toga Party.

FRIDAY - 007 Casino Night
Sexy Dealers, and a sexy auction that will drive people crazy for more money !!

SATURDAY - Bright and Tight
This one is a lot of fun and gives you a chance to be creative with clothes you have, or borrow from friends to create a look that’s cute and fun.
The rules: any article of clothing you wear has to be both brightly colored and skin tight. This one is especially funny for guys, who aren’t as used to wearing tight clothing, and usually come up with some funny outfits.

SUNDAY - Studio 54 / Back in the Day
New York, great music, go go dancers and the most incredible Night club, will be accompanied of lights and the ambience that only Desire can provide.
