Been to Hedo 7 times and after reading a few posts, it seems a powerstrip(s) and bug spray. As we will be going there for he first time, what can you not live without there? Already have boombox/meds/toys etc, then again maybe thats all we need! Any thoughts would be appreciated, thanks!

From long experience, the only "things" the two of you really need to bring are, a sense of adventure and humor coupled with an attitude of openness with no pre expectations of what will happen.

btw - either leave the boombox at home or bring a set of headphone for it - myself and most of the guests at the Desire beach really don't enjoy loud blaring music imposed on them during "their" beach vacation time....

I'm bringing a small "boombox" too... But it will remain in my room. Once in a while we just love f**king to the tempo of music... :-))

In our 12 trips we've never brought a power strip but we both have iphones and take turns charging them on the ipod dock of the alarm/stereo. Therefore we don't bring a boombox either. As for bug spray we bring it but almost never end up using it. The resort is good about spraying for bugs regularly. It can get bad at the lobby bar at times though so we just avoid sitting right under the thatch roof. I have never gotten any bites to speak of, my husband has once or twice though.
Things that I always bring are:
Chlorine removing shampoo (if you are blonde this is a must)
Mio (the only diet soda is coke, fresca in MX has sugar in it)
Snacks (for us that means almonds and pretzels)
Tons of sunscreen and at least one hat
Dollar bills to tip the staff

what 2 bring?

Due to the lack of storage space in most rooms we bring an over the door shoe organizer. The kind with 24 or 30 pockets. It folds flat in the suitcase and hangs over the bathroom door. You can fit a ton of small stuff in the pockets.

All rooms have alarm clocks with ipod docks....seems to take care of our music needs.

Vablondie is right about the bugs. The resort does an excellent job of insect control considering they are in the middle of a mangrove swamp. The few that escape always seem to head over to the lobby bar. We always end up with a few bites on the ankles and legs when we hang out there.

Have a great trip, please give us your impressions when you return.

Never thought of "blaring" it. That would be rude, kind of like telling people what they can and can't do on their vacations. :)

That's our "must bring" as well. Mrs OC stores her costume jewellry, bikinis, hairbrush, straightening iron, hair clips, etc in it for easy access.

Also, as been's said already: BUG REPELLANT. Sometimes they fog and sometimes they don't, but even when they fog, by 10 pm or so the mosquitos at the lobby bar are all over Mrs. OC.

We always bring extra hangers for our clothes. There is never enough.

Sharon and David,

We do the same!! We actually pack all of our hanging up clothes on hangers and simply unpack them directly to the closet. I remove the resort hangers for the duration of our stay to make room. Diane also brings a couple of boxes that fold flat in the suitcase that can hold stuff (costumes, wigs, or whatever desire necessities she might bring). These fit on the shelves beside the closet and keep things organized.

Please post some details when you return. It's 10 long weeks until we get back....could use a fix 8)

Nice. We have to agree 8)

So just confirming: all rooms have iPod docking stations? No more CD players?

We always recommend taking large insulated mugs for your drinks. They are perfect for laying on the beach or next to the pool, and while the staff does a phenomenal job of keeping your glasses full, the mugs will hold more and keep your drinks colder.

Enjoy!
