My husband and I are looking to go sometime in March or April for the first time. This will be our first "nudist" place together, were both very opened minded and are not bothered to be naked in from of other people just looking to explore ourselfs in ways we normaly cant at home. My question is there anything we should know before we go or should we expect?

Hi,
We are longtime Desirites, having been there 10-12 times and it gets better each time. We were there in March and are going the last week in Sept. :D . Desire is "clothing optional" rather than "nudist", meaning you can wear what you want. Most people are nude, but many ladies, and some guys, wear bottoms or bikinis. If you are like most people, it will take you about 5 minutes to get used to being naked and, then, won't ever want to go to a place where you have to wear a suit.
We advise all newbies to Desire to remember these words and repeat them whenever necessary....."It's Mexico!". Desire is a wonderful place, but it isn't a 5-star U.S. resort. You will find that the guests at Desire are wonderful, interesting, and friendly people. Much more social and outgoing than typical resorts. They are generally very respectful and you will find the gamut to couples who just hang out together and all-out swingers. Everyone respects others for who they are, where they are.
If you have any specific questions, please feel free to ask.

You probably already know this, but I'll mention it anyway...
In addition to being "clothing optional", you should be aware that Desire is "Lifestyle Friendly" - meaning that many couples will take advantage of the opportunities to make love around the jacuzzi and in the playroom. You might be approached by other couples to see if you are interested in sex with them. They will (should, anyway) accept "no thanks" with no further drama. The presense of "swingers" at Desire should not put you off in any way (we think they are the friendliest and most interesting people on the planet). It is a part of the "spice" in the atmosphere that is completely optional (like the clothes!)
It is a special and wonderful place - have a great time!

Now all you have to do is survive the Maine winter...

Friendly people

Dittos, soltailor. Reminds me of a naturist couple we met at a lifestyle friendly resort in Palm Springs. Ran into them again on a nude cruise in Italy. We were having a drink with them and the guy said, "We like you guys (meaning swingers) way better than these nudists! Your people are way more friendly and interesting." We've found swingers are way more outgoing and openminded (even if sex isn't in the picture) than "naturists". Newbies, remember, almost all swingers respect "no means no!".

Welcome to the the forums !

Best thing to do is read through the recent trip reports for general info and also the posts in the Private Playroom which covers most "other" subjects.

If you have specific questions after all that reading, feel free to post them and I'm sure you will get lots of replies and help from the forum members

We did our first vacation that was CO last year to Desire. We had been to nude beaches but never a vacation like this. I have to say we agree with everything said on this board. We are not in the lifestyle but that didn't seem to bother anyone - everyone was friendly. We loved it so much we are already booked for next April too.
