In reading some of the posts, I am unsure of what to pack to wear? It sounds like a good part of the time people are dressed, I am happy and excited with dressing up for dinner but was curious if everyone is nude at the pool during the day. In some of the pictures it seems some are wearing bathing suits. Also there is talk of covering up when walking around the site. As this is my first time I was hoping to get some advice from other women as what to wear and when. What percentage of people participate in theme night? Thanks Lori

Desire is clothing optional. There are many folks who choose to wear something at all times of the day and night and in all areas of the resort.

Lots of women are topless at the pool and beach, many are completely nude and there are quite a few who wear tops and bottoms.

Some folks walk nude to and from their rooms to the pool and beach. Most cover up, though.

Many men are nude at the beach and pool, lots wear some sort of swimwear, some men wear pareos (wrap-type skirts) as their coverups.

Wear clothes when you go to eat and want to go into the lobby area.

Lots of women dress in theme, some men dress in theme as well, depending on the what the theme is. It's difficult to say there is any sort of percentage. It varies. We have found lingerie night and school girl night is very popular (may cuz they are 'easy' themes to dress up for?)

Sexy dress (for gals) and "dress to impress" (for guys) for dinner (if you think your sexy dress is over the top, it's not - you will fit right in).

Many folks change a couple of times a night - sexy dress for dinner, costumes for themes.

But some folks wear their theme clothes to dinner as well.

We travel with carry on only and have no problem dressing in themes for every night of the week if we want to participate and we wear something different every night for dinner - you need very few daytime clothes and, dare I say it, I only take a couple of pairs of shoes. LOL!

Hope some of this helps.

Miranda,

Yes, you dare to say it... I never take a couple of shoes. I have take shoes for the evening and shoes for the theme and shoes to go along with my cover ups. Oops, dont forget the shoes to go running and shoes for the trip to and from Desire.

We are still trying to figure out how couples go to Desire and participate in all the themes, dress for dinner and not to mention to stroll around the walks and pool area showing a significant amount of skin with enticing clothing accent (not to mention needing a different pair of shoes for every occassion) and manage to pack it all in two carry-on bags, one for him---------and one of her. If your trip is only four days you can probably get away with it. But if your trip is for 10-12 days and you really participate in the theme nights than it's gonna take 3-4 suit cases plus carry-ons. Our recommendation is go full out and show off as much as possible, you don't get many opportunities in life to go somewhere and role play to the extent you can at Desire. Enjoy every moment to it's fullest. The memories will help carry you through until your next trip to Desire.

If you are into role playing, then yes indeed you would need more than two carry-ons. Not everyone is, though, and we do participate in the theme nights to an extent that is within our comfort zone.

Some folks go all out, and that's great! Some just dabble and that's great too.

The beauty of Desire is that it offers something for everyone. With no judgements.

We make the most of our Desire weeks, the way we want to. And we have plenty of memories that carry us through to our next trip. We can't wait!

What to pack for Desire?
Breakfast - Mr. - shorts, short sleeve shirts or Tshirt, sandals - these also work for him to get from room to pool and go for lunch
Mrs. - cutesy lingerie outfits - boyshorts and camis, mini skirts, short shorts and halters and sexy sandals. For the pool a wrap - most times that is all, sometimes a bikini if it is sexy - but it does come off.
Evenings - we love to get dressed up. Like a previous poster commented if you have a sexy dress and you think it pushes the envelope - bring it - you will fit right in. The ladies always look so nice at night. Sexy dresses, sexy shoes and sexy attitude! Guys - dress to impress - dress pants, nice shirts.
We often travel with carry on only luggage (to other resorts) but cannot fit a one week stay to Desire into our carry ons. Mr. Funlovin tells me to bring whatever I want - what's another piece of luggage! Besides most of what I am bringing is so itty bitty! lol A fellow Desire Lady once told me if it won't fit into a ziplock sandwich bag then it shouldn't get to come....I challenged her with - if it won't fit into a ziplock snack bag then it shouldn't come! lol
So, the long and short - it may seem like you are bringing alot, but as a lady you probably will wear 3-4 outfits a day. Pack what you will feel comfortable in and then pack some of the 'I would never wear that in public' stuff. You may be surprised at how your attitude changes during the week! Have fun!!

Have to agree with funlovincpl80 - we just returned from a 5 night stay at Desire, & brought 3 suitcases. I changed clothes several times a day - one outfit for breakfast, change for dinner, change for disco - hubby did not change so much!! To put it into prospective, we vacation at Club O in St. Martin for 2 weeks every year & only take 4 suitcases - most of them only 1/2 full, as we leave lots of room to bring home alcohol that you can't buy in the states. We loved Desire & plan on many return visits - even if we have to pay for extra lugggage!!

Thank you everyone for all your input. I think I'm getting the gist of things and now I'll start thinking and packing for June. I need that long (he says). IF anyone has anymore ideas or thoughts, please forward. Thank you again.

One more suggestion - leave your jeans home.

Good suggestion, onering. I was not thinking when I got ready to go home. Wore capris, sandals & a sleeveless top - it was about 60 when we got off the plane in Austin - thought I was going to freeze (although 60 is not cold for all of you from the North). Could not get in the car fast enough to turn on the heater & heated car seats!!

Always leave our jeans in the car at the airport, put on shorts and sundress and we are ready for paradise. :)
