Newbies - short term stay

Hi, after planning our first trip to Desire later in the summer (woohoo), some friends stepped in and gave us a week at their timeshare in the hotel zone (wow thanks ...the first time a $1500 gift has depressed me ..lol). So my question is if I go ahead and book a couple nights at Desire (our first time at a CO resort) will that be enough time to settle in and enjoy the atmosphere? I am guessing being our first time it will take some adjustment to lose the suits and relax. Has anyone else tried a first time visit of just 2-3 days?

A couple days at Desire is definitely better than not being at Desire - lol

But it is really a little too short to get into the Desire experience.

I do have a suggestion for you, if you are going to do both locations on the same trip do the vanilla resort in the HZ first and Desire last - because after Desire you will probably never want to vacation at another vanilla resort :D

Our first trip to Desire in Jan. '04 was only 3 nights......IT WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH....lol. We kicked ourselves in the butt for not booking a longer stay. I would say 4 nights would be the minimum to relax, settle in, meet people, and get the full Desire experience. But like the previous poster said even 1 night is better than no night...lol

We did a trip in October where we stayed at Desire for 2 nights and then Sun Palace for 4 nights. We had a total blast at Desire, and are doing another 3 night stay in May. I would have preferred to stay at Desire longer, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun in 2-3 days!

Our first time at Desire was just three days. We are pretty outgoing couple that we enjoyed ourselves

Although it was not Desire, our first au naturel trip was only 3 nights. It was just enough to get us hooked! That was Christmas 2000. Over 30 trips later, we're now addicted.

OMG -- is there a 12-step group for this??? (I hope not!)

Thanks for all the replies!!

I am thinking that we can get all of our sight seeing done early in the week, and finish our time at Desire. Maybe if the 2 nights with 3rd free, we could go that route (hint, hint ...Desire staff). I was really planning on a full week, so hopefully that will happen next time. Like it has been said, some would be better than none at all ...and by that point we would be pretty relaxed and hopefully forgot about the real world ...lol. The amusing part is by 4 days in the sun, we will have some serious tan lines to show off in hte hot tub..lol.

Actually, we are doing something similar. We are leaving our condo in St Martin, and trying a side trip to Desire. We will be at Desire for 3 nights. And it will be our first Time at Desire.

Our question has more to do with packing. We usually travel light. (We spend a lot of time on the c/o beach at Club Orient.)

For the fancier restaurants we've read that she should dress for sexy, glamor. Would this dress be appropiate:

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely appropriate. Of course the g-string is optional- if you don't want to wear it you don't have to.
Barbara wouldn't- and she wears many similar dresses at Desire. We have a rule- no underwear of any kind at any time on the property.........

I have thought about the packing as welll...

We will have the other room for the week, so we would just bring what we needed for the 2 or 3 nights. My wife has some dresses for the evenings which she feels are to risque to wear at home that she will look gorgeous in.

How early is check in allowed? I was thinking of arriving around 10:00am so we could have the full day.

You can arrive any time. Official check in is 3:00 pm but they'll move you in earlier if the room is ready. Otherwise just bring a little bag you can carry around with necessities and you can roam/partake at will until the room is ready to go. If you want to change- and are too shy to do it outside the lobby- you can use the spa. The bellmen will take good care of your bags.

I would not wear it for the fancier restaurants, but I would wear it for the dance club. This is just my take.

I think the dress is totally appropriate for any of the restaurants. We have been to desire 10 tmes and that dress will definitely fit in IMHO. Please feel free to dress as sexy as you want.

Absolutely right Njdesirecpl ! Often the biggest regret we hear from newbie ladies after their first visit is they dressed far too conservatively because they just didn't understand.
If it would'nt get you a charge of indecent exposure in a restaurant at home- it is probably on the conservative side for Desire.
