We are looking at booking a Christmas trip to Desire. Is this a good week to be there?

Hi! We went to Desire for the first time Oct 2010. We are booking for a week startin 23 Dec 2011 in the next few days. I don't know if it is a good time or not, but if the price jump on rooms starting 26 Dec is any indication, my bet is that it is very popular at that time. Hope you see you there. Nancy & Toby

Many thanks....saw the price jump too, but didn't wanna assume. We get in on 16th and leave the 26th.

So we will cross paths.

We have spent Christmas and New Years at the resort in2007, 2008, 2009. It is quiet the resort did not fill up until closer to New Years. Christmas eye is big, but Christmas day is just another work day. The New Years party at Desire is great. We Love It. We would love to do it again and will probably book later on.

We were at Desire December 27-30 this past year (2010). We were suprised that while the room price is one of the highest rates of the year, the resort was really only about 3/4 full. Unfortunatly, this year the weather was also very cool. Highs around 70 and lows down to 55. It was our first trip so nothing to compare to, but it seemed that the average age was slightly older than we had anticipated. Maybe 45-50 instead of the 40-45 group we expected. We surmised that younger couples have younger families and dont vacation as much without kids during the holidays??? But, have no fear, it was a fantastic time. So great, we are going back again in a couple of weeks!

Well we are the 40-45 group, so maybe we will bring the averag age down! I am sure it will be a wonderful time no matter what. We will be basking in the sun vs. hosting lots of people for x-mas, so a big and welcome change for one year!

We have been to Desire several times in many different months, from December through May and Christmas is our favorite time to go. We were there in 2009 from the 18-26th, 2010 from the 16th-29th (was supposed to be until the 26th, but due the blizzard, we got "stuck" there three extra nights), This year we have already booked from the 16th-26th again. We found the crowd to be so fun-loving and nice. It is certainly not at full capacity, but it's not empty either. The weather is changeable, but that's the case whenever you are in the tropics. We got lucky and had a full 8 or 9 days of glorious warm weather. It did get cooler the last 2 days and we heard that just prior to our arrival, the week was very chilly. The coldest we have ever been there was in April, of all things, so you just never know! It's worth the risk!
