Hi there. We're headed to Desire this week and I'm currently training for a marathon so I have a few long runs to get in while we're down there. Any recommendations on routes/paths around the resort? Thank you!

Oof, that might be a tough one, but running the beach is always good training.

Just be aware of the alligators, they aren't too far from the resort entrance, and there isn't really any enclosure, LOL!

That might lead to great speed intervals

Yeah not really. I've tried to get in some long runs when I'm down there, and there's not a good option. I've just used the treadmills for some runs. My marathon training didn't suffer from a week "off." I have a half the weekend after we get back, and I'm just going to consider it part of my taper.
Coming from the winter to that heat makes it really difficult to run anyway, but there's really no good option there.

The loop through Porto Merlot’s and back is a bit under 4 miles (if you loop around a couple of streets). That’s about the longest I’ve found - I wouldn’t risk going beyond Porto Morelos.
