A standard light bulb--
-- if you really want to see well enough to fix your makeup in the bathroom. Whose low watt curly ones just don't do it!
Bug spray--
-- definitely necessary at some times of the year. Twice in 12 trips the Mrs has gotten attacked by the "no-see-ums" (or worse). Returned home from one trip with well over 100 "bites" on her. I had not a one. You DO NOT want to know what our doctor suggested it was, but I think he was unfamiliar with the potentials of foreign travel.
Travel Insurance--
-- last trip to Jamaica, AA lost our luggage. ALL check-in luggage. NEVER got it. Try living with a woman for 8 days who has been deprived or her makeup (other than what was in her purse), her "little black dresses", her favorite swimsuits and coverups (Odd--I didn't even miss mine?), etc.
And, especially if either of you has any kind of chronic illness. You DO NOT want to be dependent on a foreign hospital. (Actually the American Hospital in Cancun is quite good, but NO such thing in Jamaica. And it's $12,000US to charter a Leer Jet to get you home in an emergency. Actually, that's just to Miami.)
Photo copy of your Passport--
-- just in case you lose the real thing. Carry the copy in a different spot. Makes it easier to get a replacement. (Happened to our travel friends, although could be he just didn't want to go home from Jamaica.)
