We've taken photos (uh I have) on last 2 trips but always of wife only and large camera in view! If anyone even NEAR a picture I asked permission. Can't imagine anyone rude enough to take pix of others without permission... Exception is early in the morning is a great time to get shots of the entire resort while people are not yet present. Mojito? Outstanding!!! Come on 7/28 :D

isn't it sad that women can't lie on a beach or pool area naked without worrying that someone will photograph them and then someone else will see the photo and think less of them

they are just boobies... get over it america....

Not really the point. It's not that people are paranoid but many have jobs/families/friends that don't need to see unauthorized snaps! Asking is the right thing to do...

Agree with tiki. Most guests with cameras will ask permission. Vanilla pictures are ok for most guests. But on the last trip, in the disco, one of the groups that was there went a little loco and the cameras were creating a strobe effect. They would not stop. The Desire staff were alerted and no stoppage even after that. Kinda ruined the comfort level. Maybe not the usual for Desire but if you go there, be prepared to see your most embarrassing, overexposed pose on the internet some day.

Speaking about our first trip, we were a little concerned about photography, however we wanted memories of our trip, because where else can you get this kind of photo. Most of our pix were taken between 6:00-6:30am before anyone else was there. And most were taken by a Desire staff member or another guest of us as a couple. There were a few taken in the ocean and on the beach beds during a meal, but again by staff of a guest. We did take some on the roof top shower while it was closed and no one around. After a few days the fear of someone taking our photo went away as we could tell everyone respected everyone else's privacy while at Desire. With that said we did not visit the playroom so we cannot speak for that, but did not hear any complaints. Not one guest was in any of our photos, but we did ASK for and received photo ops with some of the staff.
Enjoy your trip because Desire is truly a one of a kind resort. :D

Reading this now makes me wonder that since the beaches in Mexico are public is there anything "legally" that could prevent someone from standing on the public beach and taking photos of people on the beds or of whatever else is within sight? I'm guessing some people may not allow such a person to do this for very long, but I'm guessing that legally they are within their rights not unlike how the paparazzi use a telephoto lens to take pictures in the US and other places.

"Legally" they would be within their rights - however the Desire security people are careful about their guests privacy and keep people that aren't guests from lingering on the beach in front of the resort.
