Is the Sales Pitch MANDATORY?

I keep hearing about this horrible Sales Pitch session at Desire resorts. I absolutely cannot stand this kind of crap especially not when I'm shelling out over $1000/night to stay somewhere.

1. Is the Sales Pitch something they require as part of the terms of staying there?
2. If not, what's the fastest way to shut them down so I can then go enjoy my stay?

Of course it’s not mandatory. There are people there whose sole job it is to get you to go. But Just say not interested.

Its not horrible and it is certainly not mandatory. If you have no interest in it just say thank you but no thank you at check-in. If you do sit through it, you can negotiate for what you get for listening to it. If you want a massageor some money in the gift shop just tell them that upfront.

They can be very pushy, make it clear you aren't interested at all. I always ask them..."Why are you working so hard to give ME a better deal!?" It makes no sense; I give you money up front, which is at risk, and you deliver services later? No thanks. I'd rather invest my money and take trips off the interest.

As many have said, it is not mandatory. However, if you are using a member's referral to book, it is somewhat mandatory.

What benefits come with participating? We don't really have interest in the photo shoot, massages or even gift shop credit.
